TWO Good Samaritans who did a dog owner a favour are to get a special thank-you - their friend's pet.
But Denise Titchener is not giving up Alice the Jack Russell terrier. Instead she has commissioned animal sculptor Sally Arnup to create a bronze duplicate of her beloved dog.
"I am pleased to do it," said Sally, who was working on the clay form that will eventually be turned into solid metal. "It's a lovely little terrier."
Alice will be portrayed standing hopefully waiting for a ball to be thrown for her, one of her favourite games. She and Sally played it for hours while the sculptor captured her exact form for posterity.
"She (Denise Titchener) wanted it as a thank you present for two friends who had actually helped her in times of deep stress." Sally, who lives in Holtby, near Dunnington, specialises in sculptures of animals and wildlife. She often has animals staying while she works on their portrait - an arrangement which has included a horse on one occasion.
