York City boss Terry Dolan confirmed today he has landed impressive on-loan starlet Richard Cooper on a permanent basis.
The 21-year-old Nottingham Forest wing-back is out of contract at the City Ground at the end of the season but it was thought unlikely Forest manager David Platt would let Cooper go.
However, after careful negotiations, Cooper has joined the Minstermen on a free transfer. Forest will receive a percentage of any future transfer fee.
A delighted Dolan, who also confirmed the player has signed 'a long-term contract', said: "He has got a lot of potential, has enjoyed himself here and is looking to further his career."
Former England Under-18 international Cooper has been on loan since March and has made 11 appearances.
He has played an important part in City's climb away from the threat of relegation, as a right-wing back and also in midfield.
York City's Travel Club have made arrangements for fans booked on Tuesday's postponed trip to Shrewsbury. They can either retain their tickets which will be eligible for the re-arranged game next Tuesday or get a refund if they inform the Travel Club by Monday.
