Russia's battle against Holland at York's Bootham Crescent ground tomorrow evening will decides who tops Group B in the European Under-16 Championship.
The Dutch got their campaign rolling with a 2-0 victory over Poland at Bootham Crescent last night, both goals coming from winger Ralf de Haan, who is being hailed as the new Marc Overmars in his country.
Russia defeated Turkey at Hull, Anatoli Guerk scoring the only goal of the game, and top the group by a point France booked their place in the quarter-finals with a comprehensive 3-0 win over Croatia at Harrogate Town's Wetherby Road ground with goals by Florent Sinama (2) and Youssef Sofiane.
Both Julio Colombo (France) and Marko Janjetovic (Croatia) were sent off.
There was also a red card for Finland's Vallter Laaksonen as his country crashed 3-1 to Scotland and were eliminated from the competition.
The Scots' goals came from Graham Weir, skipper Paul McLaughland (penalty) and Craig
Beattie. Juho Peltomen neted a last-minute consolation for the Finns.
England were playing Hungary at Huddersfield today knowing that victory will put them through to the quarter-finals from the tight Group C where all the teams have three points after two games.
Bootham Crescent will host the quarter-final on Monday between the winner of Group D and the runners-up of Group B.
