The abandonment of tomorrow's schedueled programme at Beverley, because of waterlogging, has robbed Flat-race enthusiasts of a good day's sport.
Instead, tomorrrow's remaining action centres on two jumping fixtures at opposite ends of Britain, Perth in the far north, and Fontwell in deepest south.
Just Lizzie makes plenty of appeal at the Scottish venue. A recent winner at Wetherby, the eight-year-old goes into battle again in the Ballathie House Handicap Hurdle and looks capable of defying a 6lb penalty.
Just Lizzie's latest success was achieved in clear-cut style and owner-trainer Rayson Nixon explained afterwards that the step up to two-and-a-half miles had worked the oracle for her.
She tackles the same distance tomorrow and, on similar ground, and with Richard McGrath again in the saddle, an encore is anticipated.
The £14,000 Stewart Catherwood Memorial (Little Bay) Handicap Chase is the most valuable race of the day and Lambourn raider Get Real is fancied to defy top-weight.
Nicky Henderson's gelding is at his best on right-handed tracks and, after a series of good efforts in defeat this season, is overdue a win. Mick Fitzgerald has the mount and can be guaranteed to provide him with every possible assistance.
The £12,000 Nelson Morrison Underwriting Agency Future Champions Novices' Hurdle offers Spring Margot a good chance to end the season in style.
Venetia Williams' charge won well at Ayr last weekend and looks more than capable of doing the business again tomorrow before being put away for the summer with novice chasing on his planned agenda next term.
In division two of the Taittinger Champagne Maiden Chase, Impertio deserves one last chance. Peter Beaumont's gelding has flattered only to deceive on numerous occasions this season and is still seeking his first win.
A horse who travels well through a race but doesn't find a lot at the end, I hope he can make this look easy. Denis Grattan has the mount.
Ryedale amateur Paudge Whelan, a very skilful rider, got a good tune out of the quirky Camair Crusader at Market Rasen recently. The combination are reunited in the Capt Ben Coutts 85th Birthday Selling Hurdle and a follow-up looks likely. Camair Crusader gets my Nap vote.
At Fontwell, the George Gale & Co Handicap Hurdle over three miles and three furlongs promises to be a slog, and Gamay, trained by Paul Nicholls, is selected to come out on top. The 11-year-old, a former point-to-pointer, lacks nothing in stamina.
