HAVING watched so much suffering and hardship in the northern rural community recently, I was aghast at your writer's sycophantic article on the royal family.
The piece on Diana was disgraceful. This is a girl who was completely taken in by people with a quite obvious ulterior motive.
Your interview with Lord Crathorne suggests he is an impartial judge of character.
"She was smiling then, it really was very special," he says of the Queen.
Well, lots of old women smile, and if it's my mum I think it's very special. If anyone smiles, I'm happy.
This country must start moving forward and right now.
Forget the monarchy, Railtrack, the NHS, Marks and Sparks, Virgin, Rover and virtually anything else that has a whiff of old-style British management: it is definitely doomed.
Look to the fantastic diversity of British life in culture, education and sport and the general geniality of the British people.
Then start again, without the baggage.
