A DRIVE-THROUGH McDonald's actually in York (Evening Press, April 19) - and virtually no distance from the city walls? You have to be joking.
Probably not, when that American monster already has a take-away facility in the historic heart of the city, spewing out its waste right outside the Assembly Rooms and within full view of the Minster.
This proposed development would mean the demolition of Frog Hall, a pub not without some English architectural appeal, and encourage even more car use within the city.
What a 'Little America' we risk becoming.
It is to be hoped that city planners will not allow such Americanisation of our small city and nip this proposal in the bud.
