THE latest event to fall victim to the foot and mouth crisis is the Newton Feast Day.
Organisers of the event, which was due to be held in Newton-on-Ouse on June 16, have decided to cancel it in order to protect farmers in the community.
Greta Dean, chair of the show's committee, said: "We had an emergency meeting last night and decided to cancel it because we have lots of farmers on the outskirts of Newton-on-Ouse.
"We took advice from MAFF that we should be all right if we had disinfectant on the roads, etc, but we have taken this decision nevertheless because we get visitors to the show from a long way away and we have a responsibility to the farmers."
Mrs Dean said the show would be held next year.
