A boom in international orders for "e-eggs" is being reported by York-based expatshopping.com
The lifeline dotcom supermarket for ex-pats yearning for food from home has been sorting more than 20,000 Cadbury's Crme Eggs at its Osbaldwick depot - Easter orders from all over the planet over the past three weeks.
The company, which was declared the best new business and the firm with the most innovative use of new technology in the Evening Press Business awards last year, usually sells hundreds of chocolate bars and sweets every week.
But the choccy egg demand in the run-up to Easter has been verging on manic.
Joint managing director Richard Finch said: "When you are away from home during holidays like Easter and Christmas, you miss everything about home, friends and family.
"Getting hold of favourite foods is one of the best ways of getting over homesickness, and we have been extremely busy supplying Easter orders from every corner of the world."
