Work was recently carried out on Chaloners Road in Dringhouses to install a zebra crossing, speed humps and some speed 'tables'. This has been successfully achieved, although no one seems to know why there was a need for them. There doesn't seem to be any record of accidents at this location.
However, there have also been some cycle lanes painted on the road, on either side from Eason View to Moor Lane.
The problem here arises when you try to use these lanes. They are usually covered by parked cars, which have always been parking on the side of the road. They are so wide that there is no longer room for two vehicles to pass safely, and the road edges where the lanes are painted are in a very poor state of repair. So why has the decision been made to put cyclists lives at risk by making them ride over unsuitable roads? Somebody please get their act together!
