JOSEPH ROWNTREE School won the York and District U13 'A' team netball tournament by beating All Saints 5-3 in the final.
The 'B' tournament was won by Huntington with All Saints finishing runners-up.
The 'A' final was an exciting affair with Joseph Rowntree, playing on their home courts, taking a 4-1 lead with interceptions from Helen Jamison and Jenna Garnett and accurate shooting from Stephanie Lauff.
All Saints fought back, but Joseph Rowntree managed to hold on to ensure their school ended the season by winning five out of the six York age groups.
They only lost the U15 tournament by one goal to All Saints.
At Under 13 level, Rowntree beat Millthorpe 9-1 and All Saints defeated Huntington, winners of section two, 4-2 in th semi-finals.
Archbishop Holgate's had finished runners-up to Huntington, but withdrew, so their place in the semi-final was taken by Millthorpe.
In their group games, Joseph Rowntree beat Manor 5-2, Bootham 4-0, The Mount 8-2, Tadcaster 6-1 and edged out All Saints 3-2 to top the section with All Saints coming second.
Minster Song School won their group on their first appearance in the Primary Schools' annual netball rally.
Large and Intermediate schools playing at Hob Moor School and the Small and Mini schools played at Lowfield School.
The results were:
Large Schools: 1 Woodthorpe 20pts; 2 Kingsway 17pts; 3 Hempland 15pts; 4= Rbt Wilkinson and Carr 14pts; 6 Huntington 13pts; 7 Clifton 12pts; 8 Rufforth 7pts. Rufforth were playing in the wrong group but they offered to take the place of Copmanthorpe who were a late withdrawal.
Inter Schools: 1 Poppleton 21 pts; 2 Lakeside 17pts; 3= Ralph Butterfield and Wigginton 15pts; 5 Hob Moor 13pts; 6 Poppleton Road and New Earswick 11pts; 8 Dringhouses 9pts.
Small schools: 1 Park Grove 20pts; 2= Bishopthorpe and English Martyrs 18pts; 4 St Aelred's 16pts; 5 St George's 13pts; 6 Knavesmire 11pts; 7 Acomb 9pts; 8 St Wilfrid's 7pts.
Mini schools: 1 Minster School 21pts; 2 Appleton Roebuck 19pts; 3= Skelton and Oaken Grove 15pts; 5= Elvington and Long Marston 13pts; 7 Ebor 9pts; 8 Stockton-on-Forest 7pts.
Trophies and individual medals were presented at Hob Moor School by BBC Tv Look North presenter Clare Frisby, who lives in York. At Lowfield School the presentations were done by Peter Bibby, the chairman of the York and District Schools' Netball Association.
