York Wasps' utility player Adam Briggs has revealed he has not joined Gateshead Thunder, as reported last week.
Briggs confirmed he has been released by the Wasps but has now returned to amateur neighbours Heworth.
He broke his little finger while playing for the Villagers at the weekend.
At the moment Briggs is not considering a return to the professional game as he is concentrating on a career in the fire brigade.
The Evening Press were incorrectly informed that Briggs had signed for Gateshead which proved not to be the case. Another ex-Wasp, Gareth Lloyd, has joined Thunder and scored two tries on his debut on Sunday.
