A NORTH Yorkshire woman was killed instantly when her Vauxhall Nova car was in collision with an articulated lorry.
The lorry overturned following the accident, at Mill House Nurseries, on the A63 just outside Osgodby, near Selby, causing major traffic congestion on that road and the A19.
A North Yorkshire Police spokesman said the accident occurred at about 4.10pm yesterday when the lorry, driven by George Oldroyd, from York, collided with a red Vauxhall Nova driven by Katrina Barnard, from Selby.
He said: "Mrs Barnard was killed instantly, whilst Mr Oldroyd was taken to York District Hospital where he was treated and later released.
"In the course of the collision the lorry overturned and partially blocked the road."
A spokeswoman for North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "We released the driver of the car using cutting equipment. We were there a long time emptying the HGV by hand before it could be righted."
Any witnesses to the accident should contact the police on 01904 631321.
