York City chief Terry Dolan has revealed more of his Bootham Crescent blueprint for next season and reiterated his desire for a leaner, meaner Minstermen machine.

Speaking at last night's fans' forum, the City chief announced forward James Turley has been told his contract will not be renewed at the end of this season.

However, Dolan insisted the futures of the remaining players whose contracts are also up in the summer - including the likes of Steve Agnew, Wayne Hall and Barry Jones - have still to be decided.

Dolan did admit he wants striker Lee Nogan as part of his long-term plans.

"I have been very pleased with Lee. I think his work rate has been outstanding. He is one I am hoping will be with us next season," said the City manager.

And he also revealed he would like to keep both on-loan youngsters Mark Bower and Richard Cooper, although much will depend on the wishes of their clubs.

Cooper's contract with Nottingham Forest is up at the end of the season while Bower still has a year to run of his current deal with Bradford City.

Mystery surrounds the future of forgotten man Craig Skinner however.

The former Blackburn Rovers wideman was placed on the transfer-list more than a year ago and has not featured in the first team this season.

He has also been omitted from reserve squads amid mounting speculation his City career is now over despite still having a year to run on his current contract.

Chairman Douglas Craig told fans of the Skinner situation: "It is now in a position where it would be wrong for us or anybody at the club to pass any comment at all.

"It is a matter that will have to be decided by the League in due course."

Shedding light on his plans for next season, Dolan vowed there could be no repeat of the beginning of the current campaign when the club had approaching 30 senior pros on the books.

He said: "There are still several players whose contracts are up at the end of the season which will be looked at the end of the season.

"But I don't envisage more coming in than going out.

"At the moment the squad is 24. I would envisage it would be no bigger than that when we start next season, 28 to 29 is far too big."

He added: "We cannot go on the way we have been going on otherwise the club will fall apart because we cannot keep selling players every other week.

"Nine have gone out, five have come in.

"So in effect the club is four lighter but I will tell you now it is stronger and next season the wage bill will be a lot less."

Dolan said he had no interest in bringing back former on-loan strikers Neil Tarrant or Chris Iwelumo on permanent deals even if they became available

He confirmed former Welsh and Everton legend coach Neville Southall will continue as City's goalkeeping coach next season.
