THE National Pensioners' Parliament 2001 will be held in the Winter Gardens in Blackpool on April 30 and May 1 and 2. Pensioners from York area and associated agencies will no doubt be attending the event.
Matters of great concern to all older people will be debated. Last year 2000 pensioners turned up to see Social Services Minister Jeff Rooker get a rough ride as he sought to defend New Labour's refusal to re-link the state pension to earnings growth. Speakers this year include Tony Benn and Jack Jones.
