YORK Wasps have begun talks with half a dozen new players in a bid to strengthen the Huntington Stadium squad.
Chairman John Stabler confirmed he had spoken to a number of players last night but none had yet put pen to paper.
New director of football Tony Coleman has been using his contacts to attract fresh faces to the club which could soon start paying off.
However, Stabler insisted it would not happen overnight.
"There was progress but it takes time," said Stabler, describing the players in question as youngsters who have recently played for professional clubs.
"We had half a dozen people down and two or three others that sent messages saying that if the other signed then they would sign. I think as soon as we get two or three on board then they'll be six or seven coming across.
"They are wanting a game to put themselves in the shop window."
He was unable to speculate whether any new faces would be on show against Oldham on Sunday, adding: "We would hope we might get some on board by Sunday but they're not going to be gelled after one training session.
"We're looking at an on-going process."
Wasps prop Mick Hagan goes before RFL disciplinary chiefs tonight to discover his fate following his dismissal for illegal use of the forearm against Chorley Lynx. Even if he escapes suspension Hagan may be unavailable for Sunday's match after tendonitis in his knee flared up against Swinton.
