YORKSHIRE led Western Province Academy by 71 runs with eight wickets in hand when they entered the final day of their three-day match at Constantia today.
Simon Widdup (54), Gary Fellows (51), Gavin Hamilton (50) and Victor Craven (48) were the main scorers as Yorkshire reached 311 for six before declaring their first innings, Western Province then making 286 for nine declared in reply with Richard Dawson claiming three wickets and Ian Fisher and Gary Ramsden two apiece.
Widdup again impressed in Yorkshire's second innings, making an unbeaten 36 out for 46 for two by the close of the second day.
