Organisers of this year's Jorvik Viking Festival feast fear revellers will turn up for the event tonight - a week early.
Traditionally, the feast takes place at St William's College in York on the eve of the Viking boat race.
But college party catering manager Tish Bolton only discovered that the boat race was scheduled for tomorrow when she read the programme.
The feast itself does not take place until Friday, February 23, a week tonight.
Tish fears that Norwegian visitors arriving for the festival might descend on St William's College expecting a mulled wine reception, six-course banquet and Viking entertainment. Instead the normal college restaurant menu will be on offer.
She said tickets for next Friday's feast, price £29.95 for adults and £15 for children under ten, are still available. Contact 01904 634830 or 557233 for more details.
