Pupils at Malton Primary School have been stepping to it by taking part in line dancing classes.
The pupils were taught a shuffle kick or two when line dance tutor Danny Helliwell visited them during a week of dance-related activities.
Head teacher Colin Culley said the children were also introduced to Indian dancing by teacher Shantha Rao.
"The week rounds off today with a visit from a Jamaican steel band musician Sinclair Morris. We hold a special week of events each year at the school and the theme this year was Across the Continents," he said.
"The line dance teacher explained that the dance dated from the gold rush years in the US when the men wanted a bit of entertainment but there weren't many women to dance with - in the end we had about 300 children dancing all at once."
