Householders in East Yorkshire are to pay a 42 per cent tax increase for their police force.
The rise was announced as East Yorkshire Police Authority met to discuss its share of this year's council tax.
It means an extra 42p a week for the average Band D council tax payer - just to cover the police precept.
East Riding of Yorkshire Council has increased its part of the tax by 5.05 per cent.
It means an average Band D house will pay £875.93 to the council, instead of £833.83 last year.
When added to the police precept, it means a bill of £961.70 for Band D householders, compared to £894.13 last year.
