York City are sweating on the fitness of midfielders Marc Thompson and Graham Potter ahead of Saturday's crunch clash with Exeter City.
Potter suffered a twisted ankle in Saturday's 4-0 defeat at Scunthorpe and is rated doubtful.
Thompson, suspended for the game with the Iron, also suffered an ankle injury as City reserves were beaten 4-0 by Huddersfield Town at the McAlpine Stadium last night.
City physio Jeff Miller was today due to assess the seriousness of Thompson's midfielder but consolation came as fellow midfielder Lee Bullock boosted his match fitness in last night's Avon Insurance League Cup tie.
The teenager came through 75 minutes unscathed while Gary Hobson made his first appearance since September as a substitute.
Playing against a strong Terriers' reserve team, featuring the likes of Kenny Irons and Scott Sellers, City's second string had put in a sterling performance to keep the tie scoreless after 65 minutes.
However, a mistake by goalkeeper Russ Howarth allowed Huddersfield to take the lead and the floodgates opened.
