A TOP team from Burnholme Community College are to represent York in the regional finals of a nationwide cup for girls after proving they are the best school side in the York area.
They topped their five-team group without conceding a goal and then beat Tadcaster Grammar in the final to become area champions of the Adidas Community Six-a-Side Under-13s Cup.
In the group games, they drew 0-0 with Fulford School but then enjoyed 5-0 wins over York rivals Manor and All Saints and a 4-0 victory over Holy Family High, near Goole. They conceded their first goal in the final but won the match 2-1.
Lizzy Hope led the way, netting nine times, with Claire Copper scoring five and Charlotte Mainprize two. Other players in the eight-strong squad were Lauren Wilkinson, Toni Hill, Kelly Fowler, Gemma Lund and Stephanie Elcock.
The regional finals will be held in Huddersfield next month.
