AMERICANS with an insatiable appetite for food and drink supplied by York and North Yorkshire companies will visit the region in the Spring.

The visit is being organised by the York and North Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce with Business Link North Yorkshire and the North Yorkshire Export Forum.

The event gives local companies the chance to show their produce to about a dozen leading buyers from the North American food and drink sector.

Malcolm Blackwell, export adviser for Business Link North Yorkshire, said: "North Americans have a big appetite for the wide variety of food and drink items produced here.

"We have already witnessed a successful trans-Atlantic trade link established between North Yorkshire companies and buyers in the US, and the event, on March 29 at The Pavillions, Harrogate, will enable us to build still further on these solid foundations."

The next day - on March 30 - the Americans will have the opportunity to visit the participating companies at their own premises.

Food firms wanting to take part can apply by filling out a questionnaire available from Business Link by phoning 01904 686000.
