I DROVE my husband to an outpatient clinic recently and as I circled the area around York's District Hospital, trying to find a parking space within limping distance, it occurred to me: has anyone ever thought of including the hospital on one of the Park and Ride routes?

Many would be willing to park outside the city if they knew they could ride to within a short distance of the main hospital entrance and be picked up just as easily. This would reduce the numbers of cars in the car park.

It may prove so popular with staff and patients that parking revenue would drop. Maybe that's why the queues are tolerated.
