ALICE Sunderland collected a staggering six gold medals and the Top Girl award in her age group as York City Baths Club enjoyed much success at the Harrogate Open and Age Group Meet.

Sunderland, swimming in the 11-years-old category, set personal best times in winning each event, namely the 50metres front crawl, butterfly and back crawl, 200m butterfly and front crawl and 100m individual medley.

She was just one of many fine performers for the York club, who picked up 17 golds, 11 silvers and eight bronze medals. They claimed a further 54 fourth to eighth placings and set a superb 105 personal bests, including seven national age group qualifying times.

Hannah Petts was not far behind Sunderland, collecting four gold medals, one silver, one bronze and one fifth place in the ten years girls category. She also won the Top Girl award in her class.

Golds came in the 200m breaststroke, 50m front crawl, 200m frontcrawl and 100m individual medley; silver in 50m breaststroke, and bronze in the 50m back crawl, while her fifth place was in the 50m butterfly. She set personal bests in each event.

Tom Southam won two golds in the 50m and 100m butterfly, silver in the 200m individual medley, and two bronzes in the 100m front crawl and 200m butterfly in the 15 years boys' class.

In the 12 years section, Robert Kinnel won golds in the 50m and 200m breaststroke, while in the 11 years category Chris Burns was third in the Top Boy listings after taking gold in the 200m breaststroke and bronze in the 50m breaststroke.

Year 15 boys' Lewis Porylo also came third in the Top Boy ratings after winning gold in the 50m breaststroke and silvers in the 100m and 200m breaststroke.

Tadcaster Swim Squad returned with 35 medals and over 50 personal short course times from their 77 events at Harrogate.

Anna Martin swan within one second of a national age group qualifying time in winning the 16 years 200m freestyle to add to her silver in the 100m event.

Amy Clayden took gold in the 14 years 50, 100 and 200m backstroke, all with improved national qualifying times.

Felicity Prior became the first Tadcaster girl to break the three-minute barrier for the 200m breastroke, her 2 minutes 57.2 easily surpassing her previous best time.

Her twin brother, Stuart, also took bronze in the 200m backstroke.

Peter Webster also improved his national times in gaining silvers in the 100 and 200m backstroke.
