TWO records fell in the second part of New Earswick Swimming Club's annual championships.

Tony Shaw smashed the 14 years and over individual medley, beating the record by over two seconds.

But Shaw also saw one of his records go as his 1997 100m freestyle mark in the 13 years and under group was shattered by Andrew Clapham by three seconds.

Shaw added the 16 and over freestyle and butterfly titles to his individual medley win, bringing his final total to six trophies and three new records.

In the whole championships only two swimmers won all the events in their age group - Shaw in the in the 16 years and over and Ian Smithson in the 15 years and under.

Jonathon Woodford became the new nine and under butterfly champion but was beaten into second place by Lee Gabbetis in the freestyle race.

In the 11 years and under the honours were again shared, Jenna Howlett taking the backstroke and Jennifer Welsh the breaststroke trophy. In the boys events Bob Hunt won the freestyle final while Daniel Turton took the butterfly trophy.

Alice Lawrenson won both backstroke and breaststroke titles while Andrew Clapham added the butterfly trophy to his record-breaking freestyle win in the 13 and under age group.

In the 15 and under age group, Lucy Gould won both the backstroke and breaststroke crowns and Ian Smithson won the boys freestyle and butterfly finals.

Lucy Clapham took the 16 and over backstroke title and Victoria Clapham retained her 14 and over 200m freestyle and 16 and over 100m breastroke titles.
