SESSIONS 'A' now have a 12-point lead in division one of Focus Fireplaces York and District Table Tennis League following a 7-3 defeat of Coneysthorpe 'B', writes Clive Warley.

Andrew Nicholls and Nigel Thorn were unbeaten for Sessions.

INL 'A' eased their relegation worries with wins over Coneysthorpe 'B' 6-4 and York RI 'C' 9-1. Alf Potter and Mick Kenyon remained unbeaten.

York RI 'A' beat Coneysthorpe 'A' 6-4 despite three wins for Coneysthorpe's Dave Burnham.

Bootham Conservative Club 'A's chances of taking second place wobbled when they were held 5-5 at Poppleton. Richard Moss took all three for Pop.

In division two, Poppleton 'B' now lead by seven points over Coneysthorpe 'C'.

They lost 6-4 to Nestl Rowntree 'B' with Jill Schofield winning all three for Nestl, but then beat INL 'C' 7-3. Mick Cooper was unbeaten for Poppleton.

INL 'B' move second by beat-ing British Telecom 'A' 9-1, Martin Hood and Keith Bojas each winning three for INL.

Three wins from John Elliott could not stop York RI losing 7-3 to Nestl Rowntree.

Ed Wardman won all three as Fulford Road WMC 'B' were held 5-5 by Sessions 'B'.

Poppleton 'C' won for the second time this season, 7-3 over British Telecom 'B'.

In division three, second-placed Coneysthorpe 'C' lost 6-4 to Bootham CC 'D'. Graham Hood won all three for Bootham.

Poppleton 'D' won 6-4 at INL. Richard Collier was unbeaten for Poppleton.

Terrys' good form continued with a 5-5 draw with York RI 'E', Ken Robson winning all three for RI.

Bootham Conservative Club 'E' beat Poppleton 'E' 7-3. R Plant was unbeaten for Bootham. Poppleton lost again when they went down 6-4 to Shepherd's.

Fulford Road WMC 'C' still top division four but Police are now pushing them hard after an 8-2 win over York RI 'H', who could field only two players, and a thrilling 6-4 win over Fulford Road WMC 'C'.

Jon Bostwick and Ian Manley were the stars for the Police.

Fulford failed to take good chances in three of the matches and paid the penalty.

Third-placed CGNU 'A' had a 7-3 win over York RI 'H'. Betty Norman and Dennis Chapman were unbeaten for York RI 'F' against York RI 'I' in their 9-1 win and against CGNU 'B' in an 8-2 win.

Nestl Rowntree 'C' had two wins, 7-3 over Poppleton 'F', including three wins for Alan Richards, and 6-4 over York RI 'I', Peter Thompson winning all three.

Simon Moss was unbeaten for Poppleton 'A' in their 5-5 draw with Shepherd's.

Sessions 'D' drew 5-5 with York RI 'G' in a thriller. Len and Fred Watson won two each for Sessions and Geoff and Richard Leafe one each for RI.
