Residents of a North Yorkshire village will be put to the test next week in an effort to raise cash for the St Leonard's Hospice Appeal 2000.

The Hare and Hounds, at Riccall, near Selby, is holding another of its charity quiz nights on Thursday, February 15, and teams of between two and six people are invited to go along and pit their wits against each other.

Entry is £2 per person and there will be cash prizes for the teams coming first, second and third, as well as spot prizes throughout the evening and a raffle, for which donations of prizes would be welcome.

The winning team will also get a handsome cup to keep for six months and their team name will be engraved on a shield held at the Hare and Hounds.

The quiz begins at 8pm and people are advised to get there early, as the last time such an event was held at the pub it was standing room only by 7.45pm.

On that occasion the quiz night raised £225 for the appeal, a total which organisers are hoping to beat this time around.
