Burstrick, published by JVC for PlayStation

NICE idea, shame about the game. Burstrick sidles on to the PlayStation market and shuffles up to the likes of Tony Hawk's and Cool Boarders as if to ask if it can join the party, but really it fails the dress code.

In Burstrick, you take on the world of wake boarding. What's that, I hear you cry? Well, it's essentially a variation on water-skiing, only with a board and a whole heap of trick moves up your wetsuit sleeve.

All so promising so far, but the game is poor in every department. The graphics are weak, especially the motion of the waves and the sound is annoying. The controls are sluggish and unresponsive, which when you're trying to pull off a series of trick moves is just unforgivable.

Burstrick really could have been an impressive title for the PlayStation, filling a niche in the market that hasn't yet been claimed, but it looks and feels like a rushed-out title which hasn't been given the necessary polish.
