COUN Stone is right to point out the anomalies between William Hague's pre-election promises of tax cuts and the behaviour of the Tory councillors in his neighbourhood (February 7).
While the North Yorkshire County Council proposes to increase the council tax by seven per cent and reduce the education budget by one per cent, Sowerby Parish Council, with the highest population of pensioners in England, is outdoing the county council by increasing the parish precept by ten per cent for their self-serving projects.
This culture of deceiving the gullible is permeating the Tory establishment.
