I MUST agree with A P Cox (February 6) that cyclists can and do cause accidents. The problem is that they get away with it regularly and live in a world run by a two-wheel-friendly council which doesn't care about pedestrians.

If the council's new army of traffic wardens and members of the local constabulary fined cyclists as the law dictates this would fund a scheme of registration for city centre users who, after all, pay no tax to use the roads in the first place.

Perhaps this is why they use the pavments instead.
