Stuart Bryan, of York, reached the National Under-25s singles indoor bowls championship quarter-finals.

He beat Craig Hall, from Perdiswell, 21-12 in the first round of the finals at Nottingham, and lost 21-15 in the quarter-finals to Neil Mackey, of Kings Thorpe, who went on to win the title.

Davie Stroughair beat Jeff Normanton, of Huddersfield, 21-5 in only 11 ends in the national men's singles championship and will play Mark Walton, of Ryedale, in the area semi-finals.

Stroughair and Ena Neal beat Ryedale's Wilford and Wray 23-15 in the national mixed pairs.

Malcolm and Mark Harrison pulled away in the last five ends to win 23-14 against the Hicks at Huddersfield in the Father and Son competition area semi-final.

Eric Hodgson, Ray Calpin, Malcolm Thompson took an 11-0 lead on their way to a 27-7 victory, which included two sixes, in their Over-50s triples area semi-final against Maurice Hebden's North Cave team.

Alan Storey and Fred Clayden are through to the Over-60s pairs area final. They lost the first two ends but lost only four more in beating Brown and Kirby, of Hull, 25-8.

John Emmerson, Roger Ford and Paul Mooring are through to the men's triples area semi-finals. They scored six shots on the seventh end to lead 14-5 at Hull against Whiting, Atherton and Goodfellow and the York trio went on to win 22-11.
