A last-minute winner saw division one leaders Black Swan, Pickering, suffer defeat at Kirkdale United in one of only four Beckett League and cup games to beat the weather.

Kirkdale were good value for their 3-2 victory, hitting back to win it after Black Swan had equalised just three minutes earlier.

Kirkdale had taken a third-minute lead with an unstoppable 25-yarder by Ian Prendergast, with Black Swan equalising after 68 minutes through Richard Robinson.

Richard Holtby could have given Black Swan the lead three minutes later but hit the woodwork, before Kirkdale regained the lead on 78 minutes as Phil Marwood scored after Andy Knowles' shot had been parried by Kevin Wilson.

Chris Weighell set up Marc Dobson to net Black Swan's late leveller, but Marwood had the last word with a fine winner.

The top-of-the-table clash in division two ended all square as leaders Ampleforth gave up home advantage and drew 1-1 at Gillamoor.

Andy Walshaw put Ampleforth ahead on the half-hour but Gillamour levelled just two minutes later through a rare Trevor Bainbridge goal.

In round two of the Ryedale Hospital Cup, Bagby and Balk's pitch was deemed waterlogged so their tie with Union Rovers was switched, with the new hosts enjoying a 3-1 win.

Jamie Wilkinson's first-half opener for Rovers was cancelled out by a Chris Hindmarsh penalty on the hour, but Nicky Jackson headed Rovers back into the lead after a fine run and cross by man of the match Nigel Allen, who scored the third himself to see his side into the quarter-finals.

Second division Duncombe Park shocked first division visitors Slingsby 3-1 to go through to the quarter-finals of the Gordon Harrison Memorial Trophy.

Park took a deserved lead on the half-hour when Kevin Mason tapped in Will Smith's high cross and doubled their lead before the break when Andrew Souter hit an unstoppable 18-yarder, his second goal in two games.

Ian Whittaker pulled one back for Slingsby on 75 minutes but ten minutes later headed wide a good opportunity to equalise.

Park made the game safe when Brian Connor set up fellow substitute teenager Matthew Petch to score his first senior goal for the club.
