York runner Emma Macalister-Hall won her fourth consecutive race when representing North Yorkshire against Humberside at York.

She now has the distinction of finishing the season undefeated in the year seven group.

After a steady start she pulled away in the middle of the race on Knavesmire to win by the convincing margin of 20 seconds.

In the junior boys' race Edward Hick (Joseph Rowntree) continued his remarkable improvement to finish second.

Despite the muddy conditions many of the area's athletes ran exceptionally well as North Yorkshire won all six races.

Individual places were:

Inter/senior boys - 30 ran: 3rd Joel Riley (Tad), 4th Sandy Cowan (St P), 15th Shane Mason (AS).

Junior boys - 24 ran: Edward Hick (JR), 9th John Readshaw (Read), 20th Alex Kingsley (guest).

Year 7 boys - 20 ran: 4th Philip Graves (Arch), 13th Alastair Smith (Ma).

Inter/senior girls - 25 ran: 2nd Lara Gibbs (St P), 3rd Aimee Collett (Tad), 6th Rebecca Greaves (Eas), 7th Mel Evans (Sel), 8th Ruth Tinsley (Sel), 19th Emily Eatts (Eas).

Junior girls - 24 ran: 4th Liz Hodgkinson (QM), 7th Karen Espiner (Sher), 11th Lisa Collett (Tad), 12th Nicola Lampard (Tad), 15th Lauren Mason, 19th Joanna Feasnby (AS).

Year 7 girls - 25 ran: 1st Emma Macalister-Hall (St O), 8th Jade Mullarkey (Ful), 9th Rosie Evans (Mo), 11th Nina Batt (Tad), 14th Frances McCormick (AS).
