Teenager Eve Headley is dancing on air after landing a starring role in one of Blackpool's top shows.

The talented 19-year-old, from Sherburn-in-Elmet, near Selby, beat dozens of other young hopefuls in auditions for the show Mystique at the resort's famous Pleasure Beach.

Eve was one of eight dancers chosen for the show, which will be watched by thousands of holidaymakers during a "summer" season that runs from May to November.

Eve, a third year student at a performing arts college in Blackpool, said: "I'm absolutely over the moon.

"It's going to be hard work with three shows a day, six days a week, in peak season, but I can't wait for the curtain to go up.

"I've been in lots of local shows, but my only taste of professional dancing so far has been in pantomime at Butlins in Minehead, where I appeared in Aladdin in 1999."

The former Sherburn High School pupil lives in New Lane, Sherburn-in- Elmet, with her mother, Clementine, and father, Graham.

Eve, who has been dancing since she was three when she joined South Milford's Bettany School of Dance, has now set her sights on landing a starring role in a West End show.
