Leeper Hare York and District League premier division leaders Huntington Rovers won 2-1 away to Wigginton Grasshoppers.

The young home side went into the lead after 30 minutes, when Carl Young finished off a well-worked move.

Both goalkeepers, Darren Winters of Huntington and Mark Cammidge of Grasshoppers, were kept busy before Huntington equalised when John Barker was first to a loose ball and scored from close range.

Huntington's winner came when McDonald worked his way past three defenders before releasing the ball and it was played back for him to head home.

Grasshoppers went all out in the closing stages and missed a great chance to equalise.

Mick Gosling, playing in defence, was Huntington's man of the match, with Rich Metcalfe and Mark Scorby the pick of the home side.

Old Malton added another three points to their tally to keep them well on the championship trail when they won 3-0 at home to Dringhouses, though the game was much closer than the score suggests.

Dringhouses created plenty of chances but could not finish.

Phil Hill, Steve Boyes and top scorer Mick Henderson, were on target for Old Malton. Mark Fenton, Steve Harrison and John Lake played well for Dringhouses.

Pocklington were held to a 1-1 draw at home to New Earswick, who had the better of the early part of the game and took the lead when James Vine latched on to a through ball to beat the advancing 'keeper.

Pocklington lifted their game, forcing New Earswick 'keeper Carl Tunamm to make several great saves.

In the second half the home side drew level with a well-taken goal from substitute Graeme Whitehead.

Simon Clothier, New Earswick's central defender, had an outstanding game.

Bishopthorpe won 3-1 at home to Dunnington, who played the better football in the first half hour and took the lead when Chris Burgess was brought down in the box and Grant Tolworthy scored from the penalty spot.

Bishopthorpe were awarded a penalty which Allinson converted to level matters.

The home side kept up their pressure and Allinson put them ahead with a cracking shot from 20 yards.

Chris Smith got down low to head home Bishopthorpe's third goal.
