Two goals in the last six minutes by Marcus Bramald saw Goole hit back from 2-1 down to steal the points from visitors Harrogate Railway in the Northern Counties East League premier division.

However, the scrambled winner in stoppage time had Railway boss Paul Marshall fuming, claiming it should have been ruled out for offside.

"I'm not blaming the referee because I saw him looked across for the flag but the linesman has not put it up," he said.

"We had a defender on the line but he was behind the 'keeper, who had come out, so there was only one man between their scorer and our goal, which is offside. I'm not saying we deserved to win but that goal has cost us a point.

"It was a scrappy game but when you lead twice you think you're going to get something out of it so we're very disappointed."

Chris Whalley had put Railway 1-0 up after playing a one-two and slotting home the return pass, but Goole's debutant striker, Andy Baldwin, headed home an equaliser.

Liam Gray claimed Railway's second after what Marshall described as a "comedy of errors" in the Goole penalty box, but Bramald's mis-hit shot spooned in for a second equaliser and he was on hand to net the disputed winner from close range.

Tadcaster Albion and Pickering Town both dropped places in NCEL division one, after their clash at Ings Park was postponed.

Basement club Maltby Main leapfrogged Albion, sending them to the foot of the table, thanks to a 2-0 win at Worsborough Bridge, while Pickering lost top spot as third-placed Hall Road Rangers climbed two places with an amazing 3-1 defeat of Winterton Rangers. Hall Road had been 1-0 down with ten minutes to go and they had had two men sent off, but they rallied to score three late goals and claim the points.

In the West Yorkshire League premier division, Knaresborough Town suffered a shock home defeat against bottom club Mount St Mary's.

Tim Bridges scored the only goal of the game 15 minutes from time to lift his side two places in the table, while Knaresborough stay sixth.

All other games featuring local sides in the NCEL or WYL, as well as Harrogate Town's UniBond League match at Radcliffe Borough, were called off because of the inclement weather.

Pickering Town's Under-19s' Northern U19s Alliance match against Fields of Bradford was also called off, while if their match at Pontefract tomorrow night falls foul of the weather, they will look to play it on Wednesday.

All players are asked to phone Jimmy Reid (on 07733-393945) after 8pm tonight.
