THREE of York Rugby Union Club's younger players have been called up for county and regional honours.

Back row forward Matthew Stockdale, a 17-year-old Joseph Rowntree School pupil, has been chosen for a North of England trial which could lead to a place in the England squad.

He has played throughout Yorkshire Under 18s unbeaten county championship campaign and also figured in the county squad which was unbeaten on the tour to the West Country.

He played for the Yorkshire Under 16 clubs side last year.

Openside flanker Alex Bewick has represented Yorkshire Under 16s against Durham, Lancashire,

Cheshire, Scottish Borders and Edinburgh. The Tadcaster Grammar School pupil has previously represented the county under 15s.

Neal McClure, 17, another Joseph Rowntree student has played at full-back for Yorkshire Under 17s against Ampleforth, Cheshire and
