YORK had a massive 116-59 win against Harrogate in the County League.

Hosts David Stroughair, Mal Harrison, Geoff Walker and Graham Instone won with ease on their way to 35-16 victory.

In the other rink Mick Parker, Dave Hewick, Barry Walker and Phil Parsons found themselves 21-0 in front after ten ends to win comfortably 26-11.

Iain Boyle, Stuart Bryan, Michael Bruce and Dudley Williams had a massive 37-6 victory in Harrogate, where the home side could not score more than a single on each of their winning ends. Boyle's rink scored 27 shots in the last ten ends.

The only York losing rink was that of Paul Mooring, John Emmerson, Graham Brooke and John Walker who lost 26-12 after leading 18-12.

York's 12-point haul maintained their challenge to Hull.

New Earswick's men stay top of their group on shots difference after their 79-69 defeat by second-placed North Cave.

At home, Bob Edwards, Ken Harrison, Barry Johnson and Tony Taylor had a 22-10 win.

Surprisingly the rink of Anthony Scruton, Rod Walker, Brian Chapman and Ralph Tiplady lost 21-17 after being 10-5 in front after eight ends.

At North Cave, Gary Bunce, Bill Waldie, Bob Howlands and Ken Lippett had a fine 24-16 win but another surprise came from the usually reliable Ray Clark, John Snowden, Alistair Sugden and Kevin Fort, who were beaten 32-6.

New Earswick beat Ryedale 96-66 to win their Hebden Trophy group with one round to play.

At home Eric Ward, Ken Plowman, Ray Bowman and George Williams had a great start scoring seven from the first end. They finished up with a comfortable 29-14 win.

In the other rink Ken Carter, Alf Lewis, Tom Haldon and John Allan scored 15 shots in six successive ends, which included a six, en route to a 29-17 win.

Away, Mal Beavers, Ron Wood, Mick Stannard and Stephen Long opened up an unassailable lead after seven ends. The only defeat came from Brian Gray, Gary Thompson, Barry Harrison and Dennis Ellis who were leading 16-13 with four ends to play but lost 19-16.

New Earswick are now in the final for the second year running after losing just three rinks in the entire campaign.
