York City manager Terry Dolan pledged to step up his search for fresh faces after the Minstermen picked up their first point of 2001.
Last night's 0-0 draw with bottom-club Carlisle ended City's wretched run of six consecutive defeats.
But significantly the scoreless stalemate means Dolan's side have scored just twice in more than 800 minutes of football.
City had chances to end their barren run last night, most notably in the first-half when David McNiven missed a penalty and on-loan Stoke City striker Chris Iwelumo blazed over from eight yards.
But the failure to hit the back of the net will have Dolan scouring the transfer market for new blood in the coming weeks.
"The lack of goals has been a concern ever since I first came to the club," he said.
"We have tried to bring one or two players in to strengthen it.
"Obviously, Peter Duffield with a broken leg has not helped, Alex Mathie has been injured for quite some time while he has been here and Chris Iwelumo has not done as well as we could as we expect.
"Neil Tarrant didn't do as well as we could expect either and unfortunately we are bringing players in on loan which is not an ideal situation
"With the transfer system in the air I am not going to be going out spending any money at this moment in time.
"But Chris Iwelumo's loan period finishes a week on Saturday and that will create some space to maybe bring in another striker.
"We have also got to have a look at the midfield area as well because we are not too well endowed in numbers there."
Despite earning their first point since Boxing Day last year, Dolan admitted he was disappointed that City were not celebrating all three.
"You could say a point is a consolation but I expect more than that. I felt the game was there to be won and that is disappointing," he explained.
"We only had one or two scares but you could see in the second-half especially we didn't create a right lot and maybe the two chances we missed drained the confidence that was there at the start of the game."
A major plus point for Dolan was the performances of teenage midfielder Leigh Wood and substitute striker Scott Emmerson, who both made their home debuts.
"They deserve it and have shown what they can do and we just need one or two others to be positive as well.
"We are encouraging the players all the time. We said at half-time let's go out and believe in ourselves but in the second-half we weren't positive enough."
