New-boy Nathan Pincher has indicated his devotion to the York Wasps by signing a two-year professional contract.

The young utility back had first arrived on trial from Castleford at the start of the season but left the club for four weeks after being unable to attend training.

However, he returned earlier this month and confirmation of his dedication to the Wasps is now in writing.

Chief executive Ann Garvey said: "He's now signed as a professional and not as a triallist like last time. And he's become the only player who has signed for more than one season.

"It's a big step for him to make to commit himself for two years, and I and the board are absolutely delighted he has."

Pincher didn't sign in time for the Challenge Cup deadline and is thus ruled out of the Villeneuve game next week after missing Sunday's win over Oulton Raiders. But he is free to play in the Northern Ford Premiership, staring with Sunday's home clash with Featherstone Rovers.

"I'm delighted with his attitude towards rugby league and York Wasps. He wants to see York do well and help us do well," said Garvey, adding: "The players who have stuck by the club are the lads who want to see York enjoy success."
