Sherburn School's David MacQuarrie won the Inter Boys North Yorkshire cross-country Championships at Tadcaster by a large margin.
Although he was running against boys a year older he stormed to victory while Joel Riley of host school Tadcaster was third and Shane Murphy (All Saints) was seventh.
Matthew Speake (York Sixth Form College) used his strength to win the senior boys' race in which Sandy Cowan (St Peter's) and Sam Broadbent and Adam Womersley (both York Sixth Form College) also ran well.
Another Sixth Form College runner Tom Van Rossum had to pull out through injury when he was up with the leaders.
Other good performances came in the year 7 race from fourth-placed Philip Graves (Archbishop Holgate's), Alistair Smith (Manor) who was ninth and John Gothard (All Saints) 13th.
In the junior boys' race Edward Hick (Joseph Rowntree) was an impressive fourth with John Readshaw (Read School, Drax) eighth and Joseph Danes (Tadcaster) 19th.
