HISTORY turns a little more slowly in Ampleforth. Girl pupils are to be admitted to Ampleforth College Junior School from September.
An advanced guard, in the shape of sisters Fabia and Jemima Tate, from Thirsk, has just moved into the school.
With mixed schools almost everywhere, and women increasingly rising to the top in all fields, it is encouraging to see Ampleforth catching up.
We wish Fabia and Jemima the best of luck in their new life among the boys.
