A York hostelry has proved itself a real good neighbour.
The Cross Keys in Tadcaster Road, Dringhouses, has been the scene of frantic activity over the past few months.
Staff and regulars have been busy raising money for their neighbours and the fruits of their labours will be presented to the hospice
Manager Tony Wilder and his wife Emma presented cheques worth a total of over £1,000 to St Leonard's Hospice and the Wilberforce Home for the Blind, both of which are also on Tadcaster Road.
The money was raised with a fun day, raffles and a special head shave, with regular customers joining Tony in losing their locks.
To mark the handover the Cross Keys is providing a buffet for supporters, and a disco.
Helen Moreton, community fundraiser for St Leonard's Hospice, is to receive its part of the cash.
She said: "It's wonderful to know that our near neighbours at the Cross Keys have continued their long association with St Leonard's by supporting us again and that they had fun doing it, too!
"We are very grateful for this donation, which will go straight to our Millennium Appeal."
