Residents will debate one of the most contentious issues to hit Pickering at a public meeting on Thursday.
The meeting, to be chaired by town mayor Bill McCall, will centre on Safeway supermarket's controversial application to build a new store.
If successful, the application would see the new store being built on the Old Coal Yard site, near Southgate, in the town.
Building work on that site could mean the end for any plans to re-open a rail link between Pickering, Malton and Rillington.
The meeting is due to be divided into two parts.
The first will see three groups presenting their views on the application to the public, the second half will offer members of the public the chance to have their say.
The groups are Railway Action North Yorkshire, Pickering and District Civic Society and Pickering in Business.
Safeway was invited, but declined to attend.
The meeting will be held in the town's Memorial Hall from 7.30pm. Seating capacity is limited to 200.
