Yorkshire could be poised to sign former Australian Test fast bowler Wayne Clark as first team coach and the appointment may be in place by early next week, writes David Warner.
Clark, 47, is currently coach of Western Australia where he played from 1974-84 and he was picked for ten Test matches, the last one being against Pakistan in 1979.
Although Yorkshire are remaining tight-lipped about their plans to replace Martyn Moxon, I believe that Clark could be the favourite among three Australians who have been shortlisted for the job.
Former Australian skipper Greg Chappell and recently retired South Australian batsman Jamie Siddons - whom Darren Lehmann last year replaced as captain - are among the names which have been discussed by Yorkshire - and probably discarded.
Yorkshire have announced that captain David Byas made £94,000 in his benefit season with the club last year.
