HUNGRY punters are herring something strange at a York chippie.
Cod you believe it? Staff sing and dance while serving the lunchtime snacks.
It is only on a Fryday lunchtime, but the "dream team" of Jo, Susie and Deena entertain their customers at Carey Street Fisheries, in Fulford, with their own versions of popular classics.
All Saints, Gloria Gaynor and Steps all get the Carey Street magic applied, with many of the songs having matching dances.
The girls are performing a regular soap opera for customers - oh, and they also sell great fish and chips.
"A lot of people come in with complicated orders on a Friday," said Susie Ayres.
"I think they just want to see us. And I know the builders across the road like to watch us dance.
"It is not really for the customers' benefit, it is our way of getting through the day."
Many of the words to the songs come from the appropriately named Deena Martin, who is also partial to a bit of pub karaoke.
But boss Jo Hughes is happy about all the messing around as it does put a smile on the faces of some of the customers.
"Sometimes I think some of the visitors to the shop must be getting a bit sick of us, but we are just having a bit of fun."
She also claims that the fish and chip shop, on the site for 100 years, is one of the oldest in the country.
