Burnholme Ladies Bowling Club's Janette Lopez was recently installed as president of the York Ladies Evening League by outgoing president, Kay Hebditch, of Poppleton Ladies.
Janette's mother, Edith Appleton, was one of the driving forces behind Burnholme Ladies as they applied to the League in 1988, but passed away just three weeks before the club was accepted.
