Agriculture Minister Elliot Morley will visit North Yorkshire tomorrow to announce Government cash support towards the costs of the floods.
But it still was not certain today whether the amount would meet the full £4.9 million bill for the November emergency.
Mr Morley will visit Selby, badly hit during the November flooding disaster.
Whatever announcement is made, Ryedale will still have to wait another week before knowing whether a £4 million flood defence scheme for Malton and Norton can be fast-tracked.
A crucial funding decision will be made by the Yorkshire Regional Flood Defence Committee on Friday next week, taking account of whatever assistance is being provided by the Government.
