Stockton I turned the tables on City of York's second team when they avenged a friendly defeat two weeks ago with a North League victory.

York had cantered to a 6-1 win a fortnight ago but this division two fixture saw the Teessiders take the points with a controversial 4-2 away win.

York, despite beginning poorly, had the first real chance to open the scoring when Chris Allerton's shot rebounded to Colin Moore, but his hard drive was stopped by the 'keeper.

Had this gone in, York might have stamped their authority on the game, but as it was, Stockton took advantage of a disjointed defensive display by the hosts and within 15 minutes were 2-0 up.

Only then did York respond and they got back into the game with a goal by Graham Cook, albeit against the run of play, before half-time.

At the restart, York began to play as they did two weeks ago, forcing short corners and creating chances, and an equaliser seemed inevitable.

However, a bit of bad luck knocked the stuffing out of them. The Stockton winger seemed to knock the ball past a York defender with his feet, but the officials allowed play to continue and the visiting striker got on the end of a pass to make it 3-1.

Despite this setback, York pulled it back to 3-2 with a fine short corner hit by Phil Clarke, who was later sent off, and they mounted attack after attack in search of the equaliser.

However, another controversial incident leading to a successful short corner strike for Stockton ten minutes from time gave the visitors the last word, with York's late pressure proving unfruitful.

City of York IV took advantage of a free week in YCHL division five following Acomb II's withdrawal from the league, to play a friendly at Leeds III, winning 4-2.

Ben Dutton put York ahead and added a second from the spot before Leeds halved the arrears.

Dutton set up York's third, beating four men before seeing his shot saved only for Pat Birch to net the rebound.

Ed Shouksmith added a fourth before Leeds pulled a late goal back.

City of York VII travelled to Slazengers IV and came away with three YCHL division nine points following a 3-1 win.

York dominated from the off and were soon two up thanks to a Neil Reeder brace, while Slazengers were forced to rely on breakaways which foundered on solid York defence.

York were even better in the second half, with particularly good displays by Alistair Blacklee, playing out of position, defender Neil Buckley and goalkeeper Ben Foster.

Blacklee netted York's third, with Slazengers' consolation coming in the last two minutes after York failed to clear a short corner.

City of York I's NCHL premier division fixture with Hull I was postponed as Hull were involved in a National Indoor match, while Hallam University I did not turn up for their home match with City of York III. The students had also failed to show for the first fixture between the teams in York earlier in the season.

City of York V's friendly with the club's eighth team was called off due to a frozen pitch, and City of York VI's game against Slazengers met with the same fate.

City of York youth teams' fixtures were also postponed because of unfit pitches.
