No more argy-bhaji!
Chef Saleem Ahktar with the record-breaking onion bhaji
Any arguments over who made the world's largest onion bhaji have now been settled by the Guinness Book of Records.
Chefs at the Jinnah Restaurant alongside the A64 Malton Road near Flaxton made what they hoped was a record-breaking onion bhaji as part of the National Curry Day celebrations last November.
The giant Jinnah bhaji, weighing 3.12kg (6.9lb) and with a diameter of 51cm (1ft 8in), has now been officially recognised by Guinness Book of Records officials.
Saleem Akhtar, proprietor of the Jinnah Restaurants chain, said: "To be recognised as one of the select band of Guinness record holders through a fundraising event is an honour."
The Jinnah group agreed to mark the second annual National Curry Day by donating 10 per cent of its takings to the Prince's Trust and Mother & Child - a charity that helps Bangladeshi women and children.
The group raised £450 for the charities, and a further £40 was collected by raffling the monster bhaji along with prizes donated by local businesses.
